Submissions for the Planet in Focus Festival are due May 3 (early-bird deadline) and June 17 (final deadline). Applications for the The Planet in Focus Green Screen Award are due August 5. The 2011 Planet in Focus Film Festival runs October 12-16. Notification will be issued by email in August 2011. Only films completed after January 1st, 2009 will be considered for official selection.
Planet in Focus is Canada’s leading environmental media arts organization, showcasing and promoting outstanding environmental films and videos in all genres (documentaries, dramatic, experimental, short films, features and animation) by Canadian and international filmmakers. A jury will select the awards for Best Canadian Short Film, Best Canadian Feature Film, Best International Short Film, Best
International Feature Film, and the Mark Haslam Award.
The Planet in Focus Green Screen Award (sponsored by Astral’s Harold Greenberg Fund), the film or TV series does not have to be about environmental issues and does not have to be submitted to the Planet in Focus Film Festival. This award is specifically for film and television productions of any genre that are employing green methods. Shorts, experimental films, animation, television pilots, music videos, features and documentary films are eligible. Commercials are not eligible at this time. The size of the budget is not a consideration for this award.
