On February 5th in Vancouver and February 6th in Victoria, emerging filmmakers will learn which bare bone member of a production are necessary to keep track of your financials, the most important line items to budget accurately, shooting with crews abroad versus at home, the expenses that raise flags with financiers, how to budget in partnership with your co-production partners at home and abroad, how and where to allocate your tax credits, and best practices for clearing music and archival rights. We will also review key lines within a sample budget template that is specific to Canadian filmmakers.
Please bring your top line budget with you! The workshop will take place in Vancouver on February 5th 6-8pm at InFocus Film School and in Victoria on February 6th 7-9pm at CineVic Society of Independent Filmmakers.

Madelaine also produces the Hot Docs crowdfunding event Pitch In, runs the Hot Docs blog, supports the production of the Hot Docs Forum, and produces several industry publications, including the annual Hot Docs Guide to Decision Makers, and the Emerging Producer Guides to Budgeting and Co-Production. Before joining Hot Docs, Madelaine ran the Alternate Realities Market at Sheffield Doc/Fest in the UK. She has also worked at short film distributor Ouat Media. She holds a Master of Arts in English and Cultural Studies.
