This workshop is in response to the documentary producers wanting to know the dos and don’ts of HD and SD acquisition and workflow.
Including planning your shoot from start to finish and will demonstrate the post process mastered on HD format while using Apple Final Cut, Avid and various HD Camcorders (the HD Video Camera Debate) There seems to be a lot of questions surrounding acquisition format and consequent postproduction and format conversion issues. The seminar will also address choosing an acquisition format. Organizing the Edit, Format Conversion, Final Output and Common mistakes.
There will be presentations by Finale, Big Red Barn Entertainment and Image Pacific Communications Moderated by Boris Ivanov, documentary filmmaker.

Andrea has over 15 years experience in film and television post, especially in the realm of factual entertainment. Her skills encompass both the highly technical and the subtle creative aspects of post production. Her experience as a facility owner, post supervisor and lead editor gives her a unique perspective. She has supervised and edited projects for broadcast throughout the world, including virtually all Canadian ‘casters. Andrea has been working enthusiastically with HD for the past 4 years.

Craig is a freelance producer/editor/post production supervisor that works with Image Pacific Communications and has worked with Inspired Cinema (RED cameras). Craig Harris has worked in post production for over 8 years and currently consults as a Final Cut Server and RED workflow specialist. Craig’s background in audio and video production, combined with a passion for technology makes him… well, very useful to anyone who wants to simplify and make their production process more efficient
Boris Ivanov – Moderator
Boris Ivanov is Interfilm’s producer in charge of development and production as well as marketing for the slate of documentaries. His producing credits include the documentaries Fatherhood Dreams, From Russia, For Love, Moscow Freestyle. Other credits include theatrical recreations director/producer for CBS/History channel’s Beyond Top Secret, which has earned two News and Documentary Emmy® nominations in 2007; the line producer for the feature film The Rise of the Damned; the unit manager for the NBC pilot Bionic Woman and the TV series Battlestar Gallactica Season III. As well, he has produced, directed, and written several narrative films including Seven Storeys and Princess Castle, which have earned multiple awards on the film festival circuit. Boris has recently completed his theatrical recreations directing/producing for the Investigation Discovery’s series Deranged as well as two episodes of WeTV’s Secret Lives of Women. Boris is a Director member of the Directors Guild of Canada.
