The festival will showcase an impressive line-up of short and feature films (narrative, documentary and animation) by established and emerging women filmmakers from around the world, including an Aboriginal Women Filmmakers shorts program curated by Barbara Hager. Films screened at our festival must have a woman in THREE key creative roles: a woman as Writer, a woman as Producer, a woman as Director, a woman as D.O.P., a woman as Lead Actor, a woman as Lead Animator / Editor.
Kicking off with an Opening Night Feature Film & Reception, this year’s program is packed with Pitch Sessions, Digital Media Forum panel workshops, Screenings and Talk Back sessions with Directors, and an Industry Showcase of exhibitors, all culminating with a special screening in celebration of International Women’s Day.
The Digital Media Forum on Friday March 4 will continue the discussion from 2009 with industry experts on new digital media trends and the future of filmmaking in Canada.
The festival supports filmmakers with cash and in-kind awards and artists’ fees through the Legacy Awards, the Women In the Director’s Chair Feature Film Award, presented by Creative Women Workshops Association, and the annual Spotlight Awards.
